Professional Experience
Joyce has spent her career at the intersection of marketing, cross-cultural training, and high-profile events. Her focus has always been practical and results-driven.
Joyce has spent her career at the intersection of culture, business, and global leadership. She began her work in Asia, supporting Taiwanese manufacturers, American food brands in Hong Kong, and the Mitsui Bussan/General Electric Small Appliance division in Japan. As part of the Mitsui team launching the GE brand throughout Japan, she brought both deep product knowledge and a unique cross‑cultural perspective that shaped the success of the rollout.
She later moved to Osaka, where she supported a U.S.–Japanese automotive startup and led membership development for Club Corporation of Asia’s first private club in Japan.
After returning to San Francisco, Joyce served as Assistant to the President at Sumitomo Bank of California, working across marketing, public relations, and community partnerships to strengthen the bank’s presence in the region. Before founding Cultural Savvy, she also consulted for numerous San Francisco–based companies navigating cross‑cultural business challenges.
Joyce holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an MBA in International Business from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Her contributions to global understanding have been recognized internationally, including honors from the mayors of Seoul and Taipei and the Key to the City of Seoul.
“I know no one I could more highly recommend for native ability, integrity, and those skills which go with thought, analysis and communication. If I started the organization today from scratch, she would be one of the first employed.”
