Professional Experience

Grounded in decades of hands-on international experience across diverse global markets, Joyce’s work is driven by a foundational conviction: that developing Cultural Intelligence is essential to navigating complexity. That lived experience and perspective formed the blueprint for Cultural Savvy.

Her career is built on deep, hands-on execution across international markets. Beginning in Asia, she supported Taiwanese manufacturers, launched American food brands in Hong Kong, and joined the Mitsui team to roll out the General Electric small appliance division across Japan. Relocating to Osaka, she advised a U.S.–Japanese automotive products startup and drove membership development for Club Corporation of Asia’s premier private club.

Back in San Francisco, she directed marketing, PR, and community partnerships as Assistant to the President at Sumitomo Bank of California. She subsequently partnered with a prominent PR firm representing non-profits to produce major fundraising events, alongside independent advisory work helping organizations build robust global relationships. 

That decades-long trajectory of high-stakes international execution culminated in the creation of Cultural Savvy—built on the conviction that developing cultural intelligence is essential to navigating complexity and driving real-world results.

She holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an MBA in International Business from Golden Gate University. Her contributions to global understanding have been recognized internationally, including honors from the mayors of Seoul and Taipei, alongside the Key to the City of Osaka.
